Books in the Cloud: Google’s Perspective

Google Editions is an open ebook platform that will give readers access to buy and read digital books on any connected device with a modern Web browser. Users’ ebooks will be stored in their Google Books library in the cloud. At launch, Google will have hundreds of thousands of ebooks available for purchase from retail partners and directly from Google. With Google Editions, any retailer with a Web presence can bring ebooks to their loyal customers with minimal investment.
Abraham Murray, product manager for Google Books will give an overview of what Google Editions will look like, how it fits into the evolving ebooks landscape and what publishers need to know now and for the future.
The Speaker
Abraham Murray is a product manager on Google’s Books team. He works on multiple Books products, including Google Editions and Metadata.
Prior to Books he worked on Google Maps where he launched the US Voter Info product to answer user questions around [where do I vote] for the 2009 elections. Prior to joining Google, Abraham was co-founder and CTO of Web 2.0 start-up doodleboard inc., where he directed offshore development and worked on marketing, sales, and fundraising. Earlier, he was a product manager at BAE Systems, where he worked on unmanned aerial vehicles for the Department of Defense.
