Ann Betts will take a look at the market and the impact that e-books have had on print editions globally. The presentation will give an insight and better understanding to those in the industry of the future of books, both print and digital.
Nielsen BookScan is monitoring, measuring and communicating information about e-books, and their sale and Ann will take an in-depth look at the trends in both the US and UK print book markets since the arrival of e-books, looking at how e-books have affected print book sales and identify which categories have been hit particularly hard. Ann will also call on data from Enders Analysis, the leading media, telecoms and technology company, to shed light on the strategies of the new players in this sector and give insights into the wider market.
The Speaker
Ann Betts is Commercial Director for Nielsen Book, part of The Nielsen Company. She is responsible for the commercial relationship with key clients in the UK and overseas including the major publishers, distributors, retailers, wholesalers and library suppliers, ensuring the trading relationships are maintained at the highest level. She is also responsible for the development of new business. Key business developments include the expansion of the fledgling e-book panel and further expansion of the LibScan panel — the latter collects UK public library borrowing statistics. Prior to her appointment to her current role in 2006, she was Business Director of Nielsen BookScan having joined in 1998 as Business Development Manager.
