In the digital days of 2010, content sharing knows no borders. Publishers not only in the US and Europe, but also Asia, Australia and South America have exclaimed that a borderless content licensing solution is necessary, as content can and needs to be shared seamlessly in the digital world. Traditional copyright law, much of which dates to the advent of the printing press, is constantly being put to the test as people find new ways to use and re-use existing content.

CCC’s Senior Director, International Relations Ed Colleran will moderate a frank discussion among panelists on a number of issues including:

  • What does the future of international content licensing look like?
  • Are new media tools creating new problems or opportunities for copyright holders?
  • How do viral marketing and social networking affect attitudes toward copyright?
  • What tools are available to promote and enable content re-use while respecting copyright ownership?
  • How do we grapple with the disparate copyright laws across the globe?

The future of the global licensing of digital content — music, video, and publishing — is dependent on finding the delicate balance between what is legal, what is logical and what is right.
