Take a tablet! How connected devices are changing consumer behaviour today
10:20 to 11:10 a.m.
Platinum I
The advent of mobile connected devices, including tablet computers like the popular Apple iPad, eReaders, and portable media players, is already changing how consumers engage with media.
It is also creating new opportunities and challenges for media companies, application developers, and advertisers. Publishers, media companies and application developers are eager to know whether they should optimize their content for particular devices – and how they should monetize it. Advertisers want to understand how these devices might eventually fit into their overall marketing plans.
In this keynote presentation, David Gosen, European Managing Director of Telecom for Nielsen, will outline the latest research on smartphone and tablet adoption and usage and share key insights on consumer attitudes and behavior, including:
- What are the demographic profiles of mobile connected device owners by device type?
- How are they using their connected device? Are they watching video? Browsing the web? Playing games? Reading?
- Where are they using their devices? At home? During their commute? While watching TV?
- How have their media habits changed since acquiring a connected device? How do they consume media across their devices?
- What types of apps are they downloading?
- What is their receptivity to advertising on their connected device? How have they engaged with ads on their connected devices?
- How effective is advertising on tablets like the iPad?
