Technology has revolutionized publishing in more ways than just how books are produced and delivered. It has also had a huge and growing impact on what it means to be a reader, and what readers mean to the industry. No longer just passive consumers of content, readers are increasingly becoming actively involved with the full lifecycle of a book. This session will explore the evolution of what it means to be a reader in the Internet age. From the importance of online reader reviews to discovery (and a book’s ultimate success), to crowdsourced content, to the phenomenon of fan fiction –our esteemed panel will explore how publishers, authors, and reader communities have evolved, where the reader revolution is headed, and what it all means to the industry.
