Akshay Pathak was born and raised in India. Having studied and taught German language, he was active as a journalist for various German daily papers, like the Börsenblatt, Die Tageszeitung, Zeitschrift für Kulturaustausch, among others. He has had wide experience in cultural management and market studies and has worked for the Goethe-Institut India, the Biennale Bonn, National School of Drama, New Delhi and Pro Helvetia, New Delhi. Since February 2008, he has been the director of the German Book Office, New Delhi. At the GBO he has launched many successful projects, like Globalocal, Jumpstart and the IIM training programme, among others.
